Smita Singh, a PhD in Business Administration from University of Lucknow, has specialised in Human Resource Management and Marketing from Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. She holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology, specialising in Physical Anthropology. An NTSE (NCERT) and HRD Ministry scholarship holder, she achieved top academic positions at Loreto Convent (X th ), La Martiniere Girls’ College (XII th ) and stood ‘first in order of merit’ in her graduation from University of Lucknow. Her keen interest in music earned her a Visharad (B.Mus.) in Vocal Classical from Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya.
In the initial phase of her career, Dr. Singh was associated with KGMU-Johns Hopkins collaborative projects, where she held a dual portfolio of Research Associate and HR Manager. Post eight years as an HR practitioner, she entered the field of higher education and successfully held various academic and administrative positions during her thirteen-year stint as Assistant Professor with the Institute of Management Sciences, University of Lucknow. Currently she is associated with Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow as Adjunct Faculty.
She has published three books, ‘Human Resource Development’, ‘The Survivor’s Saga’ (a self-help guide) and ‘Corporate Wisdom from Kaber Das’ (interpretation and application of dohas by Kabeer in managerial context) and has to her credit several research paper publications, presentations in international (including one at Hawaii) and national conferences, two best paper awards and an Ivey-League case study award. Her areas of interest include recontextualizing Indian Scriptures for Management, appreciating applications of Visual Merchandising, guiding students to fulfill their potential and using creativity to spread happiness and positivity.
