Brief Profile
- Retired as Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Lucknow in June 2023, In view of her outstanding contribution as Founder Director Happy Thinking Laboratory , Counselling and Guidance Cell and Chairperson, Internal Complaints Committee, University of Lucknow, she has been reemployed by Executive Council of University of Lucknow as an Expert to provide her services to Happy Thinking Laboratory, for better mental health and well-being of students, teaching and non- teaching staff of University of Lucknow.
- Possesses keen interest in the application of Psychology to different sections of society specifically young adults, adolescents (normal & orthopedically challenged) , children, aged people, single mothers, Cancer patients and people with chronic diseases, Women with IVF cycle and underprivileged children.
- Has conducted many Positive Psychotherapy intervention programs to combat anxiety and depression among youth and children.
- Member and Vice President, UP State Chapter, National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH & Integrative Medicine.
- Member of Executive committee, Manisha Mandir Prasannta evam Kalyan Kendra, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, NGO for the well-being of elderly and underprivileged children.
- Conducted many workshops at various universities and delivered more than 100 lectures as resource person at different HRD centers of different universities, colleges, private universities, training centers and NGOs.

Development and adaptation of psychological scales
- Developed the Spirituality scale published by Prasad Psychological Corporation, Banaras, U.P., India.
- Developed a psychological scale to measure the construct of Courage.
- Developed Risk Beliefs and Risk Behavior Checklists to assess the beliefs of young adults towards risky HIV behavior.
- Developed Academic Stress Scale for senior secondary students.
- Meaning in Life Scale (Warner and Willams, 1987); West Haven Yale Multidimensional Pain Inventory (Kerns et al, 1985); Locus of Control and Health Inventory (Wallston and Wallston, 1978); PANAS (Watson and Tellegen, 1985); Life Satisfaction Scale (Diener, 1985); Resiliency Scale (Sandra, Prince and Embury, 2007); Beck Depression Inventory-II (Beck et al, 1996) were adapted in Hindi.
Funded Projects
- Project Coordinator of ICSSR sponsored collaborative research project titled “Multisensory Environments and its impact on Memory Retrieval ,Cognitive Flexibility and well-being: An Interventional Research on youth in Northern India” ,submitted by Prof. U V Kiran, BBAU, Lucknow under Vision Viksit Bharat@2047 (VVB@2047) in 2024, ICSSR-VB2024-3443.
- Completed the funded project (2008-2011)sponsored by UGC titled “Promoting Spirituality to Enhance Subjective Well Being among Young Adults”.
- Completed project sponsored by NCERT as Junior Project Fellow (1994-1996) “Reducing Burnout in Women Teachers”.
Research Guidance
- Ten Ph.D students were awarded PhD. Degree.
- Three students received Prof. Kali Prasad Award for best thesis.
- Two Post Doctoral Fellows sponsored by UGC and ICSSR completed their Post Doctoral thesis.
- Five students are working for their Ph.D thesis.
- More than one hundred Masters Dissertations were supervised.
Creation of new facility at University level
- Established Happy Thinking Laboratory at University of Lucknow. The vision of this laboratory is sharing a common desire to empower the thoughts of youth to understand indigenous notion of happiness to build a world of peace, love and universal harmony by connecting science with spirituality. MOU with two spiritual organizations, Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF), Mount Abu, Rajasthan and Heartfulness Center were done. watch video
- The laboratory is consistently working for the well being and happiness of students, teachers and administrators of not only University of Lucknow but people from NGOs, other universities and organisations. Many equipments like KaradaScan ,Bio-well, Neuro-Biofeedback, Triple Physiology Sensors, CBT equipment for Cognitive rehabilitation ,Body Composition Analyser have been recently installed in Laboratory.
- National webinar on Happiness during Covid crisis was organized which was attended by 1500 participants. watch video
- Online inauguration of Happy Thinking Laboratory by Hon’ble Governor, UP was done on 21.11.2020.
